The most accurate natal chart uses the correct birth date, birth time, and birthplace to calculate planetary positions, houses, and the rising sign. An unknown or incorrect birth time can make the rising sign, Moon sign, houses, and planets near a sign boundary inaccurate.

Accurate Birth Data Matters Most

Astrolabe says the correct time is important for houses, the rising sign, and the exact Moon position. Its service compensates for historical time zones, daylight time, and war time when legal birth time is entered.

Astro also describes correct horoscope calculation as the basis for good astrology. Its chart tools use individual birth data, and its time zone atlas includes a birth place query.

A chart can only reflect the details entered into it. Astrolabe says that a town entered incorrectly, or a town chosen from several places with the same name, can affect the result.

Why Birth Charts Can Look Different

Different charts may show different house placements even when the planetary positions match. Astrolabe says there is no debate about where planets are, but house cusps are points created by astrologers and calculated through different methods.

Astrolabe uses Placidus for its free chart. It says Placidus is the most popular method worldwide, while many American astrologers prefer Koch.

Learn AstroHD describes Placidus as common among modern Western astrologers and Whole Sign as a system where each house covers one zodiac sign. It says neither Placidus nor Whole Sign is the single most accurate choice.

Choosing Between House Systems

According to Learn AstroHD, Placidus can suit psychological astrology, while Whole Sign gives a straightforward chart structure. Whole Sign is also used for Hellenistic techniques such as profection years and time lords.

Astrolabe says a planet close to a house border can move between houses under different systems. It notes that most planets stay in the same house across systems, but border placements can differ.

For calculation accuracy, the birth data and time zone handling matter more than choosing one universally correct house system.
