Eagle Ridge Plans Fourth Of July Veteran Tribute

Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa will host A Soaring Salute July 3-4, benefiting Honor Flight of Dubuque and the Tri-States.

Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa will host A Soaring Salute, a two-day Fourth of July event in Galena, Illinois, benefiting Honor Flight of Dubuque and the Tri-States. The July 3-4 program includes a 5K/10K run and walk, a fourth annual golf scramble, World War II reenactments, skydiving, and family activities. Select activity proceeds will support the nonprofit’s trips for veterans to visit memorials in Washington, D.C. Most activities are free and open to the public.

July 3 Activities

The first day takes place at Eagle Ridge’s North Course. It includes the Firecracker 5K/10K Run & Walk, Kids Sparkler Sprint, Pancakes & Parachutes breakfast, a Presentation of Colors by Galena American Legion and VFW Post 2665, and a Team Fastrax skydiving demonstration.

Visitors can also attend World War II living history demonstrations, the Honor Flight Golf Scramble, and the Stars and Stripes Jeep Showcase near Highlands Restaurant.

Living History And Family Events

Members of The Secondary Infantry Division WWII Reenactors will present military encampments, vehicles, equipment displays, and educational presentations. The program is designed for visitors of all ages.

On July 4, Shenandoah Riding Center will host a Barn Party with pony rides, wagon rides, a petting zoo, balloon artists, bounce houses, live music, and performances by the Midwest Renegades and Ten Gallon Hat. Complimentary shuttle service will be available for resort guests.

Support For Honor Flight

Registration is required for the Honor Flight Golf Scramble. The event’s selected proceeds will benefit Honor Flight of Dubuque and the Tri-States, which provides free Washington, D.C., trips for veterans to visit memorials recognizing their service.
