Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa in Paradise Valley, Arizona, has returned to independent local ownership through a partnership between Berger Holdings and RJ Hospitality. The resort has announced a multi-million-dollar transformation beginning in summer 2027. All 110 accommodations are scheduled for renovation, followed by culinary and spa updates in 2028. The 53-acre property originally opened as a Tennis Ranch Club in the 1950s.
Renovation Schedule
Hart+Howerton will serve as architect and designer of record for the project. Beginning in summer 2027, all 110 guest rooms and casitas are scheduled for an interior refresh and renovation, with completion targeted for September 2027.
The next phase is planned for 2028 and will focus on the resort’s food and beverage outlets and Sanctuary Spa.
Local Ownership Plans
The ownership partnership brings together two local firms. The multi-year capital investment is intended to support the property’s long-term stewardship.
Laura McIver, Managing Director at Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa, said:
“As a resort deeply tied to its surrounding community and culture, we are thrilled to move forward as an independently owned and managed property as we look toward 2027 and beyond. Our owners are local community leaders who bring a shared passion for this extraordinary destination. Their commitment guarantees that every dollar invested directly enlists the care, character, and world-class service that our neighbors and loyal resort guests have cherished for decades.”
Current Wellness Offerings
The resort currently includes a 12,000-square-foot spa with 12 indoor and outdoor treatment rooms, a fitness center, swimming pools, tennis and pickleball courts, 110 casitas and suites, and eight private mountainside villas. Its wellness calendar includes guided drawing meditations, floating sound journeys, and matcha and mahjong weekends.
Its meetings and events program recently underwent a $7 million renovation. Dining options include Elements and jade bar.
